THE Bantama-Ohwim Districts and the Amakom Sector of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) have ended their Annual Youth Camps with a call
on the youth to channel their talents through nation building.

At Asante Akyem Agogo in the Asante Akyem North District the Amakom Sector comprising 11 different districts of the SDA in the Ashanti Region – Amakom, Ahinsan, Kyerepatre, Esreso, Bomso, Stadium, Asowase, Asafo, Kuntenase, Ayigya and Anwomaso held its youth camp on the theme: “The Adventist Youth: An Agent of Revival and the Prophetic Truth”.

The Amakom District Pastor of SDA, Elvis Asiamah said the church stood
for development and that in as much as the church developed through
evangelism, the youth needed to use their talents to influence nation
building a great deal.

Both the Sector President, Samuel Amoabeng and the Sector Pastor in
charge of Youth, Nathaniel Frimpong Manso considering corruption,
armed robbery and other socially-disapproved behaviours associated
with the youth, there was the need to instill discipline and the fear
of God in the youth.

They called on Parents, Celebrities, Teachers, Politicians, Chiefs,
Opinion Leaders, the Clergy who served as role models for the youth to
be always conscious of the leadership roles in order not to steer the
hearts of the youth in society

Campers of the Amakom Sector used the opportunity to donate blood to
support the Blood Bank of the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital, engaged in
cleanup exercise stretching it to the Agogo Palace and embarked on
free health screening as part of community service.
The Bantama and Ohwim Districts of SDA which held their collaborative
youth camp at Trabuom in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of Ashanti used
the opportunity to clean the no mean campus of the Afua Kobi Girls
Senior High School.
They extended the cleanup to the Trabuom town and ensured that
cleanliness was achieved to instill discipline among the youth.
Camp Director, Master Guide Stephen Boakye reconciled the aim of the
Adventist Youth Society (AYS) of the church to cleanliness, saying
that as the youth “are called to aid in the advancement of God’s
cause” it was pertinent to proper hygiene.
Host Pastor, Kwabena Kagya advised the youth to stay away from deviant
behaviours in an era where the study and learning of computer was
taking most of the youth far away from God.
The camp was nearly marred when two pastors attending the camp were
robbed at gun point between Twedie and Foase at around 7.30pm on
Tuesday night.

While the Bantama District Pastor, Felix Nimako Boansi and his two
children submitted the only GH¢150.00 on them to the robbers,
Associate Pastor, Moses Abankwa Ntiamoah had to run for cover in the
bush leaving his two mobile phones, tablet, MP4 Player and his clothes
in his vehicle and to the luck of the robbers.

They were no deaths and casualties any way they however, reported the
matter to the Foase Police with the Asokwa Divisional Police Command
investigating the matter.
At Konongo-Odumase Senior High School where Atimatim District held its
annual youth camp, the Host Pastor, A.B.A. Prempeh and guest speakers
like Pastor Robert Agyei, Pastor Emmanuel Ghansah and Elder Dr
Lawrence Nowell urged the youth be agents of revival and prophetic
truth. Camp Director, Master Guide Prince Owusu was assisted to take campers
through bible studies, hiking, prayer sessions, health talks, health
walks, cleanups, among others.
